Even though Eric Gordon sees no improvement, the young Houston Rockets have shown glimpses of great play this season.
Of course, that has had more to do with how incredibly talented their young core is, not with coaching or development.
That’s why NBA veteran Austin Rivers believes the team should bring in more veterans to mentor Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green:
“Somebody needs to teach KPJ and Jalen how to play the right way,” Rivers told Michael Shapiro. “They need those vets.”
Spoke with Austin Rivers postgame tonight. He had plenty of thoughts on Jalen Green, Kevin Porter Jr. and the Rockets’ rebuild.
“Somebody needs to teach KPJ and Jalen how to play the right way. … They need those vets.”

Green and Porter Jr. have the potential to be one of the most athletic, unstoppable, and dynamic backcourts in the league.
Yet, it seems like they struggle to make adjustments or learn from their mistakes.
Their raw talent is going to waste, and coach Silas knows they’ve struggled to stay consistent:
“We have to understand that this league is all about sustaining your play,” Silas said.“And we are a wildly inconsistent team where we have highs and lows, and we’re working to either maintain the highs or just find a middle ground.
Some Rockets fans have urged the franchise to part ways with the coach, as he’s failed to get Jabari Smith Jr. involved, as well as helping Kevin Porter Jr. become more of a playmaker instead of just a scorer.
The future seems bright for the Rockets with Porter Jr., Green, Smith Jr., and Alperen Sengun.
But they need to find the right veterans to help them learn the ropes of the game before losing becomes a habit for them.
