The Houston Rockets hoped that Jalen Green would be a star.
However, he struggled to find consistency early in his career, and some fans started questioning his status as a franchise player.
Moreover, Alperen Sengun’s surge made people question whether they’d be better off building around him.
Now, it seems like Green has finally arrived.
He’s been on a tear over the past couple of weeks, scoring the ball at a high clip and with efficiency, and leading the Rockets to a 9-1 record in their past ten games.
With that in mind, Rockets coach Ime Udoka made sure to give him his flowers, praising him for overcoming adversity and shutting down all the outside noise (via ClutchFans).
I’ve coached a lot of high-level scorers,” said Udoka on the streak he’s on right now. “This is right up there with them,” Udoka said.

He also stated that he’s one of the best high-level scorers he’s ever coached.
Green’s talents have always been there.
His decision-making and shot selection, however, left a lot to be desired.
Even so, not all players have to figure things out right out of the gate.
He didn’t go to college, and while he did get to work and play against pros, learning the fundamentals also matter.
Green could be blossoming right before our very eyes, and that could be the difference in turning this Rockets team from a good team to a great team.
The Rockets are now 1.5 games behind the Golden State Warriors in the race for the No. 10 seed and the final spot in the Play-In Tournament.
If Green keeps this level of play up, don’t be shocked if they end up making the playoffs.
