The Houston Rockets are still in search of their next superstar following the departure of James Harden during the 2020-21 NBA season.
While many expected Jalen Green to fulfill that role for the team, the rise of Alperen Sengun has caught many by surprise.
After all, Sengun was selected as the 16th overall pick by the Rockets during the 2021 NBA Draft.
Speaking of Sengun’s talent, the third-year star made NBA history with his sensational performance against the San Antonio Spurs, as revealed via Basketball Reference on Twitter.

As visible in the above-attached tweet, Sengun joined an elite list of players after becoming only the fifth player in NBA history to record more than 45 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 steals in a single game.
The other four players include Joel Embiid, James Harden, Anthony Davis, and John Drew.
Keeping that in mind, Sengun has certainly showcased what he is capable of once he reaches the prime of his NBA career.
Speaking of Sengun’s numbers against the Spurs, he finished the game with 45 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals, and 1 block.
Thus, improving his season numbers to 21.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game in 60 appearances.
Sengun’s performance helped the Rockets register a 114-101 win over Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs.
Although it was a memorable game for Sengun, the Rockets are still far from making a case to clinch a playoff berth come playoff time.
Following the win, the Rockets did improve their record to 27-34, but they remain the 12th seed in the Western Conference this season.
