Under head coach Ime Udoka, the Houston Rockets have become a respectable team and would currently be in the Play-In Tournament if the 2023-24 NBA season ended today.
The Rockets are a young team with plenty of intriguing pieces to build around, but even the most optimistic fan probably didn’t have them competing for a playoff spot so soon.
Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors struggling so far has opened the door for Houston though it might be in their best interest to continue losing and gathering high draft picks.
With Udoka looking like he’s secured the head coaching job for the foreseeable future, the front office now needs to figure out which players are worth investing in.
Alperen Sengun is making a leap this year and seems like a good bet to receive an extension, as well as Jalen Green who is scoring less this season but playing much more under control.
Green in particular has some tantalizing potential, though fans raised their eyebrows when Gilbert Arenas called him a star via his personal Twitter account.
“I want a star. Period. I want a Jalen Green….Edwards. I want a superstar name first and then I’m gonna build my team,” Arenas said.
Gilbert Arenas says the Knicks need a real superstar like Jalen Green or Anthony Edwards
“They have a horrible research team on what talent is.”

Arenas was talking about the New York Knicks and how they should be going hard after another star to pair with Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle.
The first player Arenas brings up is Green which felt strange given the star players that are currently rumored to be on the move.
While Green’s got star potential, it’s hard to say he’s already one given that he’s yet to accomplish much in his career so far.
