The Sacramento Kings need as much help as they can get to get over the hump and make it back to the NBA Finals.
That’s why the team decided to honor Pope Francis by giving him a brand new jersey, with the team’s CEO calling him the newest member of the team’s fanbase (via Kings on NBC Sports).

The Kings are fresh off their best season in franchise history, and that was most definitely the answer to thousands of fans’ prayers.
Hiring Mike Brown and trading for Domantas Sabonis were two massive wins for the organization, and it didn’t take long before they paid off.
The Kings have become one of the most entertaining and up-and-coming teams to watch in the league.
Under Brown’s tutelage, De’Aaron Fox finally took that leap forward and became the All-Star guard scouts thought he was poised to become when he entered the league out of Kentucky.
Sabonis has established himself as one of the most dominant interior presences on the offensive end of the floor, serving as another facilitator and offense creator, all while owning both sides of the glass.
Keegan Murray has kind of regressed this season and hasn’t been as efficient as he was in his rookie year, but he’s already proven that he can be one of the best stretch forwards and shooters on Earth.
So, if the Pope needed a good team to root for, he made a fine choice.
