The Sacramento Kings were defeated by the Washington Wizards on Thursday night, which was a surprising loss.
But even though Sacramento was defeated, one of its biggest stars still put up an impressive total.
Domantas Sabonis scored 14 points and 14 rebounds during the game, just his latest double-double.
That’s an impressive accomplishment because the current record for the most consecutive double-doubles over the last 40 years is currently held by Kevin Love, who had 53 in 2011, according to Hoop Muse.
Sabonis’ current streak is now just one game shy of that, with 52.
That means he is just a single game away from tying the record.

Anyone who has been paying attention to Sabonis and the Kings this season shouldn’t be surprised if he surpasses that total.
For the season, he is posting 20 points and 13.7 rebounds per game.
He is also adding 8.3 assists per game and is shooting 60.9% from the floor and 41.1% from the three-point line.
All season long, Sabonis has been considered one of the greatest big men in the league and has been helping his Kings climb higher in the standings.
But they are now currently the eighth seed in the West, which means that Sabonis and his teammates will have to play hard in order to make it through the Play-In Tournament in a few weeks.
When Sabonis came to the Kings a few seasons ago, fans of the team weren’t sure how he would fit in and if his style of play would work well alongside the young roster.
But he has more than proven himself and, along with De’Aaron Fox, has become one of the most important players on the team.
He is now on the verge of making his mark in NBA history, which further highlights just how impactful he is.
