The Sacramento Kings are looking to build on the success of last season as they finished as the third seed in the Western Conference.
The Kings would end up bowing out in the first round after losing a thrilling seven-game series against the Golden State Warriors but they laid down the foundation to compete in the 2023-24 NBA season.
De’Aaron Fox took a leap as their star guard as he was almost unguardable in the fourth quarter and led Sacramento to several clutch victories.
For a while, it was unclear whether or not Fox could live up to his billing as a franchise cornerstone, but after his season last year, he’s proven he belongs in the conversation for best guard in the league.
With a young and talented roster, Fox has the pieces needed to make another deep postseason run and potentially add some hardware to his collection.
Off the court, Gilbert Arenas sparked a debate about money versus championships and Fox decided to weigh in via his Twitter account.
Lol everybody wants to win but at the same time y’all know sports are jobs right? https://t.co/p91qKnZGp6

Lmao I can tell you with 100% certainty that nobody would care if Kobe disagreed with them. With all due respect to a legend. 🙏🏾 https://t.co/zxUtZeKQaw

Arenas posed a question about whether or not players would prefer to take $500 million or five championship rings.
The older school players would generally take the rings, but athletes like Fox would prefer to secure generational wealth and never have to worry about money ever again.
As far as the Kobe Bryant comment is concerned, Fox probably didn’t mean anything malicious by saying people wouldn’t care if he disagreed with them but that didn’t stop fans from taking it to heart.
Athletes have different priorities when it comes to why they play the game, and Fox is entitled to his opinion.
