The Chicago Bulls are on the verge of a fire sale.
The team hasn’t found its groove this season, and it seems like it’s just a matter of time before they have to part ways with their stars.
Notably, it may have already started, as it’s not a secret that Zach LaVine has never been happy under Billy Donovan, and he seems the likeliest candidate to head out the door first.
That’s why it wasn’t shocking to see Jake Fischer report that the Bulls actually reached out to the Cleveland Cavaliers to try to swap LaVine for Darius Garland (via NBACentral).
The Chicago Bulls reportedly tried trading Zach LaVine for Darius Garland, per @JakeLFischer
“Chicago has also attempted swapping LaVine for other All-Star players, such as pitching Cleveland on the concept of acquiring Darius Garland from the Cavaliers, sources said.”

Garland is one of the best young point guards in the league, and the Bulls could certainly use a major upgrade at that position with Lonzo Ball’s future being so uncertain.
The report also states that the Bulls have been actively shopping LaVine and offered him to multiple teams, but to no avail yet.
LaVine is currently nursing an injury and will reportedly be out for another couple of weeks, but there is some serous skepticism about the extent of that injury, and it seems like the team is just shutting him down to find a trade suitor before he actually gets hurt.
Then again, trading a player like him with such a big contract and so many years left on his deal isn’t going to be easy, especially under the new CBA, and considering that his style of play has rarely translated into winning or postseason basketball.
