There are plenty of people who think the chances of the Atlanta Hawks going to the Finals this season are much higher than they were last year.
This is not only because the team has been steadily getting better over the last few seasons.
It’s also not just because they acquired Dejounte Murray in the summer.
The biggest force driving this team forward is Trae Young, and he has been for some time.
Trae Young over his last 3 games:
37.7 PPG
7.7 APG
49.3% FG
43.5% 3PT

The young superstar is showing that he’s back and ready to win in a big, big way.
During his last three games, Young has averaged 37.7 points and 7.7 assists.
The man has been shooting at 49.3% with a 43.5% three-point percentage.
Last season was rocky for both him and his team but Young and the Hawks are in fine form yet again.
Ice Trae Get Red Hot
If Young keeps performing at this level then he is going to have the best season of his career.
He is currently averaging 31.5 points for the season, a career-best.
His 9.7 assists are particularly exciting because they are tied for a career-high and are leading to the whole team doing well.
Many people were wondering how Young would do alongside Murray and now it is obvious: these two are a great pair.
The team currently has a 4-2 record, which obviously leaves room for improvement.
But there is no denying that they are playing well together and are head and shoulders better than they were last year.
So the playoffs are not only possible but, at this point, likely.
Young looks great on the court but he feels more driven than he has been in a long time.
That is making all the difference.
