The Atlanta Hawks have had quite a disappointing season.
Expectations were quite high for the team, as Quin Snyder would finally get a full season with them together.
However, not only was that not the case, but they also failed to trade Dejounte Murray despite plenty of league-wide interest.
Now, Trae Young is more than likely to be out for the remainder of the season, as they’re currently No. 10 in the Eastern Conference and likely to slide further in the standings with him out of the rotation.
Considering that, they’ve waived veteran G Patty Mills, allowing him to sign with a contending team for the remainder of the season (Via Shams Charania).

Charania adds that the 15-year veteran is shooting over 38% from beyond the arc in a limited role in Georgia this season.
Mills is a savvy veteran with impressive sharpshooting skills.
He can play on and off the ball, and while he’s no longer in his prime and can no longer be much of a defensive presence, he could still give multiple teams an instant offensive spark off the bench.
There should be no shortage of interest in his services, and even the San Antonio Spurs could look to bring him back as a veteran leader and mentor.
As for the Hawks, this could be the beginning of the end for them, as some believe Trae Young could be on the trade block in the offseason, and they’re not likely to win many basketball games without their best player there.
