The Atlanta Hawks put away the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night behind the power of Trae Young‘s latest 33-point, 11-assist performance.
This was yet another example of how powerful a player Young can be and how vital he is to the success of his team.
But what happens to the Hawks if he isn’t around for much longer?

That is a real possibility, according to NBA insider Eric Pincus.
Pincus recently said, “I think Trae will want out after the season.”
He isn’t the only one raising this rumor about Young departing from Atlanta: for a few months now, there has been increasing chatter about the star player moving on from the only NBA team he’s ever known.
After an explosive and promising offseason, the Hawks are far from where they expected to be.
While their eighth-seed position isn’t as bad as it could be, there is obviously a lot of room for improvement.
Rumors have swirled about Young being unhappy with the rest of his team and especially Atlanta’s front office.
He’s been producing 27.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 9.9 assists this season and has experienced his fair share of inconsistency.
Some people have claimed that his problems have come because his mind isn’t focused on the team and he’s already checked out.
If Young demanded a trade from Atlanta, nearly all of the NBA would clamor to land him.
Even with a few issues, Young is still one of the most celebrated and fiery guards in the league.
There are a number of teams who would move around a lot of players and money to acquire him.
We still have several months before the fate of the Hawks is known.
Following this postseason, a lot of attention will be on every move Young makes.
