The Washington Wizards finally embraced a complete rebuilding phase after trading Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns in the offseason.
While the Wizards obviously no longer have any big-name superstars on the roster, many believed they still had a decent core around Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Poole.
However, the dynamic duo of Kuzma and Poole hasn’t had much success during the 2023-24 NBA season.
As shocking as it may seem, Kuzma is still playing a decent brand of basketball.
Speaking of the 2020 NBA champion, Kuzma recently revealed via NBACentral on Twitter that he was given a chance to leave the team and get traded to the Dallas Mavericks, but he rejected the idea.
“I told him I wanted to stay and continue to build something. And that was kind of the end of it,” Kuzma said.
Kyle Kuzma mentioned that the Wizards offered him a trade to Dallas, but he chose to stay in DC to build something there
“Winger presented me with what the trade was and obviously didn’t want to trade me and kind of left the decision up to me a little bit and asked me what I… pic.twitter.com/nLe3t5VjKg

Kuzma could have taken the easy way out and been a part of the Dallas Mavericks to contend for an NBA Championship.
However, Kuzma decided to embrace the difficulty of being a part of the Wizards rather than joining another team.
The veteran forward mentioned that he wants to help the Wizards rebuild their team and ultimately produce great results in the season.
This season, Kuzma has certainly done his best to keep the team competitive by averaging 21.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game for the Wizards.
Unfortunately, Kuzma’s numbers haven’t resulted in much success for the team.
After all, the Wizards are currently the 14th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 9-44 record.
In fact, they aren’t far from becoming the 15th seed in the East as the Detroit Pistons currently have a 8-44 record.
