There is no doubt that Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans is one of the best young talents in the NBA.
When he last played, he was averaging a whopping 27.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.
However, injuries continually keep him off the court and he hasn’t played all season long because he’s been rehabbing a right foot injury.
But he is getting closer and closer to coming back to his team.
Willie Green says Zion Williamson has progressed to “controlled scrimmages” – basically 5-on-5 fullcourt work against coaches and some of the back end of the roster.
Still no further update on his playing status.

Pelicans head coach Willie Green commented on the progress Williamson has made, saying that he is now participating in “controlled scrimmages”, which are five-on-five fullcourt workouts against coaches and some bench players.
Does this all but guarantee Williamson will be back when the next season tips off?
The Return Of Zion
Some people are still holding onto hope that Williamson could somehow appear this season.
That would give a huge benefit to the team, that just secured a spot in the play-in tournament.
If Williamson really did come back this year and was in fine form, he would radically upgrade the team’s chances.
However, it’s more likely that Williamson will come back next season.
When he does, he could push the team up much, much higher in the Western Conference standings.
Since losing Williamson, the team has worked extra hard to give him a great squad to return to.
Right now, Brandon Ingram, CJ McCollum, Jonas Valanciunas, and Devonte’ Graham are holding the fort down and are working well together.
Because of these guys and the rest of the talented roster, the Pelicans have gone much further than most people expected.
With the news of Williamson progressing, the future is looking even brighter for the Pelicans.
