After being drafted No. 1 overall by the New Orleans Pelicans during the 2019 NBA Draft, Zion Williamson was expected to be the next superstar in the NBA as he possessed all the skills to be one of the most entertaining and unstoppable players in the league.
Unfortunately, injuries and weight problems have held him back from reaching his true potential, as he hasn’t played in more than 61 games in a season during his playing career with the Pelicans thus far.
Although it has seemed at times that Williamson’s career was heading for disaster and that he’d become another “what-if” story in the NBA, the Pelicans forward has really started to get back on track this season, as he’s been able to stay healthy while dropping some weight and helping New Orleans be one of the best teams in the Western Conference.
Along with being on the verge of playing the most games in a season since his career started, Williamson has turned it on as of late and is doing something that hasn’t been done in the NBA for the last two and half decades, according to ClutchPoints.
Williamson is averaging 18.6 points in the paint, the most in the NBA in the last 25 years.

In a wise move, Williamson has decided to go with what works while on the basketball floor rather than trying to force becoming a three-point shooter like many people try to do in the league these days.
Currently, Williamson is averaging 22.3 points to go along with 5.8 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game while shooting 58% from the floor and 35.7% from deep and 70% from the free-throw line.
