The 2022-23 Brooklyn Nets are finally living up to their potential.
They survived a rocky offseason and a very slow start to the year, firing Steve Nash and replacing him with Jacque Vaughn, who wasn’t even their first choice for the job.
The Nets bought into Vaughn’s philosophy and have now become the most unstoppable team in the Association, going 18-2 in their past 20 games and beating contenders left and right.

Unfortunately, their resiliency will be put to the test in the next couple of weeks, as Kevin Durant suffered a knee injury during their win over the Miami Heat, and he’s likely to be on the shelf for the foreseeable future:
“He is a focal point for us offensively, but even defensively he’s been an elite rim protector this year,” Joe Harris said of Durant. “He guards the best players. Obviously, it would be a massive blow for us [if he’s out], but at the same time it presents opportunities for everybody else and we have a lot of depth for reasons like this, for everybody just to step up and collectively try and fill that void.”
Durant is one of the leaders in All-Star voting and one of the strongest MVP candidates this season, turning back the clock and proving to be one of the best two-way players in the league despite his age.
So, now, it’ll be up to Kyrie Irving and the rest of the guys to step up and hold down the fort to keep this impressive streak going without their best player.
