The Brooklyn Nets are in 11th place in the East with a 21-33 record and the front office obviously feels that something needs to change.
Because of that, the team fired head coach Jacque Vaughn on Monday morning and announced that a new interim coach would be announced shortly.
Nets General Manager Sean Marks released a statement about Vaughn’s firing, which was shared on social media by Ian Begley.
In the statement, Begley said it was an “incredibly difficult decision, but one we feel is in the best interest of the team going forward.”
He stated “Jacque has represented this organization with exemplary character and class for the past eight years. The consistent positivity and passion he poured into our team daily will remain with the players and staff he interacted with throughout his tenure.”

Vaughn has been with the team’s coaching staff for years now.
He first joined back in 2016 and was an assistant coach under Kenny Atkinson for four years.
He then briefly had a chance to lead the team for just ten games and then became assistant coach again for three more years.
Following the surprise firing of Steve Nash at the start of 2022-23, Vaughn was given the position of head coach again and it was assumed that he’d have it for good this time.
Last season was filled with massive changes for the team but Vaughn was able to bring the best out of the team.
This season, things have been much rougher and the 21-33 record means the team is far from great.
The Nets have impressive young talent and the front office wants to capitalize on it immediately.
They are not content with sitting around and waiting, they want to act quickly and believe they can still make the playoffs this year.
With some recent roster changes and the firing of Vaughn, the team is looking to start a new chapter as soon as possible.
