Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette may not have any All-Pro or Pro Bowl selections to show throughout his five-year NFL career.
But when the chips are down, he will get it done.
That’s why it was important for the team to re-sign him on a three-year, $21 million deal with $12 million in guaranteed money.
Indeed, the Buccaneers are blessed to have a back that has the rare combination of size, speed, and power.
Those attributes help Fournette elevate his game when it matters most.

The NFL on CBS Twitter account revealed that Fournette has the most playoff rushing touchdowns among active running backs with nine.
Sony Michel and Damien Williams are tied for second with six while three players have five apiece.
The caption reads “nobody does it in the postseason like @_fournette” and they’ve included his touchdown run against the Green Bay Packers in the 2020 NFC Championship Game.
It was the best example of his talent because he broke tackles, juked sideways, and spun away from defenders before crossing the goal line.
That run was one of Fournette’s three postseason touchdowns that year.
He also had two last season and four when he played with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2017.
Fournette, The Versatile Weapon
Aside from power runs, quarterback Tom Brady also dials Fournette’s number on some pass plays to keep the defense off guard.
His speed allows him to sprint past defensive linemen and linebackers before finding an open spot.
Once he gets the ball, he will be a problem for defensive backs because of his bulk.
With Fournette, offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich can develop more wrinkles for their system.
That’s why he is a vital piece in their quest for another Super Bowl victory.
