The Tampa Bay Buccaneers secured their quarterback for the future.
Baker Mayfield signed a very lucrative deal to stay put in Florida for the next three years.
However, that deal could end up being a bargain, or he could renegotiate that big contract if he plays well again next season.
With that in mind, NFL analyst Rich Gannon shared his thoughts on his situation.
Talking on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Gannon expressed how happy and proud he was for Mayfield.
“He’s a great competitor,” Gannon said.

While he didn’t want to call him an overachiever, mostly because of the fact that he’s a former No. 1 pick, he raved about his passion and how much he loves the game of football.
He believes he’s a slippery player who makes up for his lack of size with his heart and intelligence, adding that he was very happy for him and his new contract.
Mayfield has been through a lot.
Some people criticized him for his demeanor despite not having accomplished anything in the league yet, while others claimed he was a great locker-room guy.
Perhaps the truth was somewhere in between.
What’s a fact is that he led the Cleveland Browns to the playoffs despite a revolving door with the coaching staff, and he was still shown the door.
He had to fight his way back and humble himself to get this kind of opportunity.
And while he may never live up to the task of being the first guy taken off the board, it was nice to see him prove that he belongs in the league.
