When Tom Brady retired, it left a massive hole in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offense.
Brady is one of the best quarterbacks of all time, so his departure from their team was viewed as a devastating loss.
The team was said to have a QB competition ahead of the 2023 season, which Baker Mayfield ended up winning.
Mayfield’s career had been something of a roller coaster until that point, and as a result, fans were unsure about how he would run this offense.
He outshined many people’s expectations in his first season, bringing the Buccaneers to the playoffs and winning their Wild Card matchup over the Philadelphia Eagles.
This was a redemption season for Mayfield, and he fit in well with this team.
His status with the organization was cemented Sunday, as he was signed to a three-year contract extension.
After seeing this news, Dan Orlovsky tweeted a simple congratulations, indicating he is happy for Mayfield.
Happy for Baker

Orlovsky is a former NFL quarterback who has spent much time on ESPN as an analyst in recent years.
At times, he has been critical of Mayfield and his performances, but his opinion has clearly changed.
Now, Mayfield will have an opportunity to be the Buccaneers’ quarterback for the next three seasons, hoping to build upon the success he found in his first year with the team.
After it was revealed that Mike Evans will return to the club, Mayfield will have a great veteran receiver to throw to when the season starts.
Who else will join this offense, trying to join Mayfield in his quest to keep the momentum going?
