The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the NFC South in 2022, albeit, with a losing record.
While they were able to make the playoffs, they lost in the Wild Card round to the Dallas Cowboys.
After this early playoff exit, the Buccaneers fired nine members of their coaching staff, including offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich.
In the wake of Leftwich’s firing, the Buccaneers hired Dave Canales, who comes highly regarded.
Pete Carroll on Dave Canales: "I think he will do a great job of play-calling. He has always been around the game to understand how to be innovative, creative, and also be bold and take shots, but yet have the baseline of an attack that gives you a chance to be really good.”

Canales was previously a member of the Seattle Seahawks coaching staff for 12 years.
Pete Carroll has been highly regarded as one of the NFL’s best coaches, and he had nothing but good things to say about Canales, as seen in the tweet above.
While Canales doesn’t have direct experience as an OC, he coached the quarterbacks, and wide receivers, and worked as the passing game coordinator for the Seahawks as well.
Now, Canales will get an opportunity to call plays for the Buccaneers.
Tom Brady has retired, leaving the Buccaneers in the hands of Kyle Trask at quarterback, unless the team makes an unsuspecting move.
Canales will certainly have his work cut out for him, considering that Trask has very minimal experience in the NFL.
Trask was a great quarterback at the University of Florida, but the NFL is a different game entirely.
How will Trask adapt to his new role as their starting quarterback?
Will Caneles be able to succeed with this offense, knowing that they are departing from a generational quarterback?
His tenure with the Seahawks should prove to be valuable, and the vote of confidence from Carroll is certainly encouraging.NEXT: NFL Insider Says The Buccaneers Have A Plan In Place For QB
