It is true that many fans of the Brooklyn Nets are very nervous about the upcoming 2022-23 NBA season.
You have to remember that last season feels like a feverish nightmare now and the summer wasn’t much better with all the trade rumors and speculation around Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
However, others are predicting great things on the horizon for the team.
And one of those great things could be Ben Simmons.
Nets Corner 3P%:
Irving: 45%
Durant: 54%
2020-21 Harris: 48%
Curry: 48%
Mills: 40%
O'Neale: 39%
2019-20 Warren: 42%Seems pretty good next to Ben Simmons…
— Matt Brooks (@MattBrooksNBA) September 12, 2022
Matt Brooks took a look at how other players on the team could work alongside Simmons as the point guard.
He noted that the three-point percentage from the corner of the court for most of the stars on the team is pretty high.
Durant, for example, shoots 54% from the corner, while Irving is nailing 45%.
As Brooks put it, “Seems pretty good next to Ben Simmons…”
Simmons really could be a vital part of the team’s offense moving forward.
Simmons Suiting Up
With all the other drama surrounding the team recently, no one would blame you for forgetting Simmons even plays for the Nets.
He actually hasn’t played for them yet: the Australian guard hasn’t suited up once for Brooklyn since being traded from the Philadelphia 76ers last season.
But now he’s seemingly healthy and prepared to play.
And when he does, he should expect to focus on assisting other shooters on the squad.
We all know that Simmons isn’t a great shooter (and he only attempted 10.1 a game in the 2020-21 season) but he can assist – and he will in the 2022-23 season.
Head coach Steve Nash will likely task Simmons with getting the ball to others, facilitating plays, and getting boards too.
Both the Nets and Simmons are looking for redemption in the new season.
