The Brooklyn Nets are looking to put the rough summer behind them and focus on the future.
And part of their focus on the future involves a look back to the distant past.
The Nets just unveiled a brand new jersey, their Statement Edition uniforms, for the 2022-23 NBA season.
They look like a familiar, strong, and appropriate throwback to the team’s history.

The team created a video featuring the new jerseys, which are straight-up black and white with the simple word “Nets” on the front.
Brooklyn also released a statement about the new jerseys, which said, “Ten years ago, the Brooklyn Nets made history as the first NBA team to wear black and white as its primary colors.”
The statement added: “For New Yorkers, black has been the uniform for decades – it’s chic, and for many represents edginess, sophistication and elegance. We’re proud to continue that tradition as we enter the Nets’ second decade in Brooklyn with a new twist on the classic Icon uniform.”
While the Statement Edition jerseys definitely look great, will it help the team overcome the obstacles they face?
Making A Statement
The Nets aren’t the only team releasing throwback jerseys for the upcoming season.
These types of uniforms are a great way to fire up the fanbase and Brooklyn needs to do just that.
The last season they had – and the summer that followed it – wasn’t great for the team or its loyal followers.
There is a lot of hope that the 2022-23 season will be much, much better than 2021-22.
Kevin Durant has agreed to keep playing in New York, Ben Simmons is healthy again, and Kyrie Irving looks ready to ball.
Therefore, things are looking up for the team.
