The Cleveland Cavaliers are undoubtedly one of the best teams in the league in the 2023-24 NBA season.
While the Cavs have a solid roster, not many expected them to truly dominate the Eastern Conference the way they have done this season.
The biggest reason behind the team’s success this season is undoubtedly the performance of former 13th overall pick Donovan Mitchell.
Mitchell is having an excellent season scoring-wise and has improved his playmaking ability as well.
Despite having a great season and leading the Cavaliers to an excellent record, there is no mention of his name in the 2024 MVP debate and he undoubtedly deserves a shout out for winning the honor, as revealed via NBACentral on Twitter.

Taking a look at Mitchell’s numbers this season, he is currently averaging 28.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game for the Cavaliers.
He is also shooting 46.9% from the field and 35.1% from the three-point line.
Moreover, Mitchell isn’t putting up empty numbers since the Cavaliers are currently the third seed in the Eastern Conference with a 31-16 record.
The Cavaliers are also on a five-game winning streak, which surpasses any team in the Eastern Conference right now.
At the end of the day, it makes sense to appreciate what Mitchell is doing this season and he undoubtedly deserves a spot in the MVP race.
However, it’s unlikely that Mitchell will receive the honor.
After all, he was snubbed from becoming a starter in the 2024 NBA All-Star game as well, despite clearly having an excellent season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
