The Cleveland Cavaliers have been able to get by despite some injuries, but they still need their best player on the court.
That was very evident in their recent home loss to the Brooklyn Nets, one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference.
Donovan Mitchell has been out with a lingering knee injury, and while Darius Garland has been able to carry the load offensively, they’re also without Evan Mobley and Max Strus.
Fortunately for J.B. Bickerstaff and company, Chris Fedor of cleveland.com reports that the former Utah Jazz star could be inching closer to a return.
#Cavs star Donovan Mitchell is unlikely to play tomorrow night against the Suns. But he keeps making progress, his recent reevaluation went well and he has resumed on-court activities. There's hope he *could* be back during the upcoming road trip. https://t.co/xidlX6LeXE

Apparently, the Cavs hope to get Mitchell back on the court at some point in their upcoming road trip.
The Cavs went through a long stretch of the season without Mobley and Garland, yet they continued to find ways to win games.
This team is much more balanced on both ends of the floor than they were last season, and there are high expectations for the postseason, even if Mobley continues to be sidelined for much longer.
This is going to be a key stretch for the Cavaliers, as Mitchell has yet to commit to his long-term future with the organization and another failed postseason trip could lead to his exit from The Land.
This team will only go as far as Mitchell can lead them.
That’s why it’ll be so crucial to get him back on the floor and get him back to full strength in time for the playoffs.
