Ever since the Cleveland Cavaliers traded for him, Donovan Mitchell’s future with the team has been a subject of debate.
It’s not a secret that the New York Knicks have shown an interest in him, and they’re in a position to make a strong push for his services.
However, Cavs owner Dan Gilbert doesn’t feel the same way.
As reported by Tom Withers of AP, Gilbert is confident about Mitchell signing an extension in the offseason.

Mitchell had already ruled out the possibility of signing an extension this season, as it just didn’t make sense for him from a financial standpoint.
He’s been the best player on the team by a significant margin, leading them to playoff contention when Darius Garland and Evan Mobley were forced to miss time with injuries.
He’s currently sidelined with an ailment of his own, but he’s expected to be back on the court in time for the playoffs.
The Cavs have one of the best backcourts in the game, with him and Garland, and losing him would obviously be a big blow for their team.
Then again, if he’s not sure about staying, and the Knicks are in a position to make a Godfather-like offer for his services, the Cavs must at least consider the possibility of letting him go.
