The Cleveland Cavaliers have some crucial decisions to make very soon.
Donovan Mitchell’s future looms large for the organization, and they must have an answer from him before making any big moves.
Dan Gilbert was optimistic about their ability to get an extension done, but Mitchell later pumped the brakes on that.
They also need to figure out what to do with Evan Mobley, who has shown glimpses of greatness and two-way dominance, even if he hasn’t lived up to the expectations just yet.
That’s why NBA insider Brian Windhorst recently stated that the Cavs should do whatever it takes to extend Mobley, even if that means giving him the max (via ESPN Cleveland).
.@WindhorstESPN says that if the Cavs extend both Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley, they should start exploring trade offers for Jarrett Allen and Darius Garland.

Then, if they manage to get Mitchell locked in as well, they should look to explore the trade market for both Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen.
Needless to say, that’s a bit of a hot take, as their core four has been the main catalyst behind their recent success, and they all have a similar timeline and could be very good together for years to come.
Garland and Mitchell have thrived together in the backcourt, and Mobley and Allen coexist in the restricted area as a dominant defensive one-two punch.
Still, the new CBA makes it tough to stack that many talented players on the same team — unless you’re the Boston Celtics — so moving one or two of their stars could make sense for financial purposes.
Again, it’ll all depend on what Mitchell decides to do.
