The Cleveland Cavaliers may be sitting 19 games above .500 with an impressive record of 40-21 while also sitting pretty in the third seed in the Eastern Conference and a legitimate chance of leaping ahead of the second-seeded Milwaukee Bucks in the standings before the NBA playoffs begin, but it has been anything but easy with costly injuries throughout the regular season.
Along with star guard Donovan Mitchell currently out with a knee injury and Max Strus joining him on the bench due to a knee ailment of his own, the Cavaliers can add talented former Evan Mobley to the list of banged-up players in Cleveland.
Mobley has only played in 38 games so far in the 2023-24 campaign but is expected to miss even more time.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Mobley will be on the mend for an extended period of time due to a left ankle sprain.

With the Cavaliers having a legitimate shot of overtaking the Bucks and keeping Giannis Antetokounmpo at bay in the Eastern Conference standings, Mobley’s injury couldn’t come at a worse time, as it seems Cleveland may have to limp to the regular-season finish line this year.
The Cavs only have 21 games left to be played, and it might be safe to say that Mobley will miss a considerable chunk of those games, as the team will want him and Mitchell healthy for what could be a deep run in the NBA playoffs.
Only time will tell how costly these injuries will be for Cleveland and if the team can be 100% when the postseason gets underway next month.
