Emoni Bates was one of the most talked-about rookies in the NBA when he was joined the Cleveland Cavaliers last summer.
However, his time in the league has been complicated and he hasn’t participated in many games with the team.
Any return to the Cavaliers might be delayed because Bates has just gotten himself into trouble with the NBA G League.
According to Marc J. Spears, both Bates and Gabe Osabuohien have been suspended for two games without pay after “entering the spectator stands” at the end of the recent game between the Cleveland Charge and Birmingham Squadron on January 20.

Bates has been spending a lot of time with the Charge, Cleveland’s G League team, and he has been doing quite well with them.
After being selected in the second round of last summer’s draft, Bates was a breakout star during the Summer League.
Because of that, some people predicted a promising first season in the NBA.
Instead, he has only participated in 10 games with the Cavaliers, averaging 1.8 points and 1 rebound.
He has done much better in the G League and has wowed the fans multiple times, leading the team and enhancing his skills.
His hope has been to refine his abilities and then work his way back onto the Cavaliers’ roster.
This suspension could be a big setback for Bates.
As the season winds on and the Cavaliers find success without the rookie star, he now has less of a chance to play for Cleveland on the big stage again.
This sort of incident will only make the front office hesitate more about bringing him back.
