The Brooklyn Nets have officially started a new era.
Long behind are the days of Steve Nash being over his head on the sidelines, with Jacque Vaughn proving that he was more than ready for this opportunity.
Notably, Vaughn wasn’t even their first choice, as Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving reportedly wanted them to bring former assistant Ime Udoka back shortly after his scandal with the Boston Celtics broke out.
Needless to say, that would’ve been a PR nightmare for a team that was desperately trying to avoid yet another scandal, so they made the right choice by going with Vaughn instead.
Vaughn did an outstanding job of earning the players’ trust and respect, and now the team has rewarded him by signing him to an undisclosed multi-year contract extension, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Jacque Vaughn has made sure to keep things 100% about basketball since day one.
He didn’t bat an eye when the team overhauled the roster, stating that he was going to focus on whoever was left on the team, no matter who they were.
He’s also made sure to hold everybody accountable and get the team to play as a unit on both ends of the floor, and that’s why the future seems bright in Brooklyn.
Of course, they might not be a top-tier team or a championship contender for the time being, but they have a young, up-and-coming roster and a plethora of Draft picks, so don’t sleep on Jacque Vaughn and the Nets in years to come.
