The New York Jets have one of the best defenses in the league, and they’ve shown up to play every single week, regardless of how the offense fares.
That’s why HC Robert Saleh was feeling himself a little too much following Sunday’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles, stating that they’ve ’embarrassed’ some of the best quarterbacks in the game this season.
Now that he’s cooled off a little, the Head Coach wanted to apologize for the words he chose, stating on Good Morning Football that he shouldn’t have said ’embarrassed,’ but adding that he still has plenty of faith in that defensive unit (via Mike Garafolo).
#Jets coach Robert Saleh on @gmfb on his postgame comments Sunday: “The word ‘embarrassed’ was probably not the right choice of words for me at that time, but there’s a lot of faith in our defense and Jeff Ulbrich and how good a job he and the defensive staff do in terms of…

Saleh also praised defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich and the defensive staff for getting the players ready for every challenge.
Notably, the Jets’ defense has looked stellar against the likes of Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, and Jalen Hurts this season.
They’ve made things easier for Zach Wilson and the offense, and one could even make a case for them getting robbed of a chance to go 4-2 instead of 3-3 because of a questionable call on Sauce Gardner in that primetime game vs. the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Jets entered the season with Super Bowl aspirations, and while losing Aaron Rodgers obviously took a big toll on those chances, it seems like the defense is going to take matters into their own hands and will this team into the postseason.
So, there’s no need to apologize, Saleh, you were right on point with those comments.
