The latest rumors suggest that Kyrie Irving really wants to leave the Brooklyn Nets and may be headed to the Los Angeles Lakers.
What started as a soft rumor and baseless speculation has now become much firmer, with some big names saying that Irving’s interest in the Lakers is very real.
In fact, it now seems more likely that he will leave Brooklyn for the West Coast, even though he’d have to give up millions of dollars to do so.
Irving making a move like this is surprising but not that shocking when you consider how the man usually operates.
Why is Kyrie like this

Some NBA fans are pointing out that he is just always going to make life difficult for any team he plays for.
That’s just the sort of guy he is.
The Kyrie Kind
There are few people like Irving.
In terms of his skills and his, shall we say, eccentricities, Irving is in a class of his own.
He isn’t always easy to work with but the Nets should be working incredibly hard to keep him.
Nets lettin Kyrie go for nothin when they can get back assets would basically be torpedoing competing this year & wasting 34 year old KD season.
Not a chance especially if they want to keep KD. https://t.co/yqUjLEGagY

In fact, many people are saying that if Brooklyn drops the ball here, it will be wildly embarrassing for them.
The fact that losing Irving could also open the door to lose Kevin Durant makes things even worse.
Apparently, Durant is now contemplating his future with the team and is unhappy with how the front office has mismanaged their handling of Irving.
Losing Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and James Harden within 8 months should be a criminal offense

If the team ends up losing James Harden, Irving, and Durant within one year, it’ll be a collapse unlike any we have seen in a long time.
In all my years watching the NBA, I don’t think I’ve seen a bigger fumbling of a golden situation than what’s happening with the Brooklyn Nets right now. KD and Kyrie went there and randomly tried to save them from obscurity, and it almost could not have gone worse.

We are on the verge of seeing the end of the Irving-Durant era.
It was short-lived, underwhelming, and ultimately painful for Brooklyn fans.
