The Baltimore Orioles might finally be taking some steps towards respectability.
After winning their ninth straight game on Tuesday night, rallying to beat the Chicago Cubs by a final of 4-2, they have reached the .500 mark.
They remain just two games back of the final American League Wild Card spot, a spot currently held by the Toronto Blue Jays.
Somehow, some way, they have found themselves in postseason contention for the first time since 2016.
They hold a record of 44-44 and actually have a chance at making it to October.
Sarah Langs of MLB.com tweeted an interesting fact about the team, that this is the most games into the season that they’ve been at the .500 mark since they were 71-71 in September of 2017.

Red-Hot O’s
Considering that they’ve spent a lot of time under the .500 mark, this is quite a big accomplishment for the Orioles.
Obviously, you want to be better than .500 by September, but they’re now winning ballgames and making themselves look like a true contender.
A win tonight obviously puts them above the .500 mark, but it will also mean that every team in the American League East division will be over .500, that is if they win tonight.
Still, this is a team that nobody had any expectations for heading into the season.
People thought that this was a team that was destined to lose 100 or more games.
That’s still possible, but now they’re at the .500 mark and have a decent chance of making a run for a playoff spot.
We’ll see what comes next for them.
If they keep winning, we may see them try and add some pieces at the trade deadline to bolster their chances.
