Sorry Dave Roberts, but your claim that the National League West is the best division in baseball took a major hit last night.
Who was the team who delivered that hit?
The Baltimore Orioles.
With a 4-2 comeback win over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, the Orioles won their ninth straight ballgame and pulled themselves to an even .500.
Because of this, every team in the American League East division has a record of .500 or better.
No, it’s not a close race, as the New York Yankees have separated themselves from the rest of the pack, but it’s tightly packed from second place to fifth.
MLB tweeted a graphic of the AL East standings after Baltimore’s win last night.
With the @Orioles' win tonight, every AL East team is .500 or better. 🤯

A Juggernaut
This is crazy.
Earlier in the season, there was a point where everybody in the NL West had a winning record.
But that isn’t the case anymore.
The fact of the matter is the top four teams in the AL East would qualify for the postseason if it began today.
Not only that, but the Orioles wouldn’t be missing it by much.
They’re only two games out of the third AL Wild Card spot, a spot held by the Toronto Blue Jays right now.
Don’t look now, but the Orioles are making a run and trying to compete for the first time in a long time.
Maybe it’s 2012 all over again.
But the AL East is without a doubt the best division in all of baseball.
Again, every team is .500 or better and sooner or later, every team might have a winning record, this of course depending on what the O’s do tonight against the Cubs.
A win will put them over .500.
