The Jacksonville Jaguars have shown continued faith in their 2021 first-overall draft pick, Trevor Lawrence.
Lawrence is coming off an impressive 368-yard, three-touchdown game against the Tennessee Titans.
There was one play in particular, that, although wasn’t drawn up, made his coaches proud.
“It wasn’t a read… He’s a sharp guy.”@Trevorlawrencee went rogue and called his own number for the 1-yard TD run 😳😂 pic.twitter.com/ERfHicw9pc

In an interview with Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson, he describes the nature of Lawrence’s one-yard touchdown run.
Although this play wasn’t scripted, Pederson and the rest of the coaching staff trusted Lawrence’s judgment.
When your quarterback is making plays and assisting in a blowout victory, it’s difficult to be too mad at him.
Lawrence’s Road To Greatness
Before the Jaguars drafted him first overall, Lawrence was touted as one of the best college prospects in NFL history.
He was compared to the likes of Andrew Luck, John Elway, and Peyton Manning.
In college, Lawrence had an impressive record at Clemson, going 34-2.
His rookie season was marred by a distracting head coach in Urban Meyer, and as a result, Lawrence had a season that underwhelmed nearly every NFL fan and analyst.
That has not been the case in 2022.
Through 13 games this season, Lawrence has thrown for 3,202 yards, 20 touchdown passes, and only six interceptions.
For historical context, Lawrence threw an NFL-worst 17 interceptions in 2021.
He is also completing nearly seven percent more of his passes this year and kept the Jaguars within two games of the Tennessee Titans for the division lead.
Lawrence is shaping up to be one of the league’s best young quarterbacks.
For the sake of good football, let’s hope he takes yet another gigantic leap forward in 2023.
