The Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots made a surprising trade over the weekend.
It was revealed that the Patriots traded Mac Jones to the Jaguars for a sixth-round pick, which some fans found to be a head-scratching move.
The Jaguars already have a great quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, who has significantly impacted this franchise.
However, as Craig Carton recently called out on his show, Lawrence has nothing to worry about.
“Mac Jones is a backup quarterback. That’s what Mac Jones is,” Carton said.

Despite being drafted by the Patriots in the first round, Jones’ career hasn’t gone as planned.
Carton believes he will be a career backup, but being paired with Lawrence could help his cause.
Jones could learn from one of his peers, hoping to get insight that could help him on another team moving forward.
The Jaguars aren’t in a place to get experimental at the QB position, especially since they missed the playoffs last year.
They finished second in the AFC South, falling just short of C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans.
The Jaguars must put their best foot forward to surpass them next season.
To this point in his career with the team, their best chances of winning seem to be when Lawrence is on the field.
It will be interesting to see how Jones fits into this organization and how he will be received in the locker room.
If Lawrence does fall to injury, he might get a chance to prove himself again in the NFL.
