Wherever Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets goes, controversy follows.
The star guard has always been outspoken and steadfast in his opinions which have led to a lot of headlines, including this year when his stance on getting the COVID vaccine has been one of the biggest stories of the year.
But when you set aside all the drama surrounding him, you see a player who is really one of the best in the league.
That was very obvious on Tuesday night, as Irving scored a career-high, franchise-high 60 points against the Orlando Magic.
Irving produced 40 points in the first half of the game, a stunning feat that has impressed fans from all over the league.

It also impressed Irving’s former teammate, Dion Waiters, who took to Twitter to celebrate Irving.
“Kyrie got 40 in the first half & yall telling me he not a top 75,” Waiters tweeted, referencing the fact that Irving was snubbed from the recent NBA Top 75 list.
With that, the debate over the Top 75 begins again.
Irving Left Out
There have been so many conversations about the NBA Top 75 list and who should have been included and who should have been cut from it.
Overall, it’s been a great conversation starter.
The fact that Irving didn’t make the list doesn’t mean he’s not one of the best point guards alive today.
In fact, it could actually motivate and inspire him to play even better.
Other players – such as Klay Thompson – have said that being left off the list has acted as motivation.
They have turned the rejection into drive.
Sure enough, Irving has shown quite a few flashes of brilliance since not making the list, including his showing on Tuesday night.
List or no list, Irving’s dominance cannot be denied.
