Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder is having an amazing NBA season so far.
The young man has been one of the best parts of the Thunder since joining the team back in 2019-20, but he’s gotten much stronger and so much better recently.
This year, the guard is propelling himself to his highest peak yet.
Gilgeous-Alexander has a 2022-23 average of 30.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 5.5 assists.
Those aren’t just the best numbers of his team, they’re some of the best numbers of the entire league.
“I’m very excited for the future.”
Amid reports of his dissatisfaction with OKC’s lack of competitiveness, Shai reaffirmed his belief in the future of the Thunder last night after a win in Toronto.

Because of his greatness and, alternatively, the weakness of his team, some people have assumed that Gilgeous-Alexander might demand a trade soon.
But that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Speaking of his team and what’s ahead, he sounded very optimistic, saying, “I’m very excited for the future.”
Now, there is a chance that his future won’t always be with the Thunder but, right now, he’s all-in on this young team.
Goodbye To Gilgeous-Alexander?
Gilgeous-Alexander ironically gave that statement after beating the team that some people think he could defect to: the Toronto Raptors.
He was born and raised in Toronto and there are numerous analysts who think that team can woo him away.
Why would he stick around with the Thunder when he could get a chance at a ring with the much-stronger Raptors?
But Gilgeous-Alexander seems adamant about sticking around in OKC, at least for now.
We will see how he feels when his next contract extension comes around or when free agency starts.
He is becoming one of the most talked-about players in the league and that means that speculation about his future is growing by leaps and bounds.
