During the 2010s, the Oklahoma City Thunder enjoyed a great run in the Western Conference, primarily due to the presence of superstars like Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook on the roster.
Fast forward to 2024 and the Thunder are among the top teams in the West, thanks to their young core of stars.
The primary superstar on the team is none other than Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is seemingly improving his game with each passing season.
Gilgeous-Alexander’s biggest talent is undoubtedly his phenomenal scoring ability which has been on full display during the season.
Gilgeous-Alexander recently recorded the 47th 30-point game of the season and is now tied with Kevin Durant for the most 30-point games in a single season in the history of the franchise.

While it’s always great to be in the same conversation as a legendary player such as Kevin Durant, Gilgeous-Alexander has the opportunity to surpass the 2x NBA champion’s record.
The Thunder still have 19 games left in the season.
The 2x NBA All-Star is certainly capable of doing so as he is averaging a remarkable 31.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game for the Thunder this season.
Thanks to his excellent numbers, the Thunder have a 44-19 record as they are the first seed in the Western Conference.
