As expected by many, it has been a difficult season for the Baltimore Orioles.
Granted, it hasn’t been quite as bad it has been in previous years, but Baltimore still sits in dead last in the American League East and are five games below the .500 mark.
At the same time, there might be a little something to celebrate for the O’s.
They are 7-3 in their previous 10 games and have come to within 6.5 games of the third AL Wild Card spot.
Sarah Langs of MLB.com tweeted something that will make Orioles fans excited, and that is that they have clinched their first winning month since they went 17-12 in August of 2017.
At 14-10 with 2 games left in June, the Orioles have clinched their first winning calendar month (min 5 games) since they went 17-12 in August 2017

At Long Last
Now, there might be a reason to celebrate in Baltimore.
Obviously, there is no guarantee that this will last, and the Orioles are still well behind many other teams.
But at the very least, they can celebrate something that they have not been able to celebrate since 2017, that being a winning month.
Every year since winning the second AL Wild Card in 2016 with an 89-73 record, Baltimore has fallen short of the postseason and finished well below the .500 mark.
That doesn’t appear imminent at this moment.
They have struggled to win ballgames for the past several years, and while they’re still struggling to do that, they at the very least have something to be excited about and for the fans to cheer about.
That’s better than nothing.
And who knows?
Maybe they’ll get close enough in the standings to where the front office feels comfortable going out and making some moves to improve the ballclub at the trade deadline, which might put them in a position to surprise some people.
