The Utah Jazz we see next season will look very different from the one we saw just a few months ago.
With the trades of Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, the Jazz have fully committed to a rebuilding process that will possibly take them far into the playoffs.
But it might not happen soon.
The Jazz have garnered a lot of valuable pieces in these blockbuster trades, but they are pieces that won’t really come to shine for a few more seasons.
So let me get this straight… the Jazz turned Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell into:
Collin Sexton
Malik Beasley
Leandro Bolmaro
Ochai Agbaji (14th pick
Walker Kessler (22nd pick)
Jarred Vanderbilt
Lauri Markkanen
THT
Stanley Johnson
7 1st-round picks
3 1st-round swapsInsane.

You have to admire this haul.
For Gobert and Mitchell, the Jazz have acquired Collin Sexton, Malik Beasley, Leandro Bolmaro, Ochai Agbaji, Walker Kessler, Jarred Vanderbilt, Lauri Markkanen, Talen Horton-Tucker, Stanley Johnson, seven first-round picks, and three first-round swaps.
Sure, this won’t make Utah Finals contenders overnight but these are some very impressive building blocks.
Utah On The Rise
Fans of the Jazz need to be ready to sit and wait for a while.
That is because this major collection of talent and draft picks will take time to develop.
Some of the players (Horton-Tucker and Sexton come to mind) could be All-Stars within the next year or two but some of the others need more time to grow and the draft picks and swaps will obviously need time too.
Yes, it’ll take a while but this could all pay off very well for the Jazz.
When it became apparent that the Jazz were going to make the moves to get rid of Gobert and Mitchell, fans of the team called on the front office to only make the right deal and actually get something substantial in return.
It looks like the Jazz listened to them.
