Dark days will loom over the Seattle Seahawks.
With linebacker Bobby Wagner and quarterback Russell Wilson leaving, it’s hard to be optimistic regarding their chances for the foreseeable future.
Without further offseason transactions, the team will have a quarterback competition between Geno Smith and Drew Lock.
Therefore, gone are the days of ten-win seasons and postseason contention.
The 12th Man must admit that their team will suffer greatly for a while.
Wilson could have stayed if the team heeded his request of upgrading the offensive line.
He did not ask for bigger compensation as long as the team remained competitive.
Instead, the franchise chose another direction, as SBNation blog Field Gulls tweeted.
This organization bet on Carroll and Schneider over Russell Wilson.
Unbelievable. That's the exact outcome I didn't want.

It is downright depressing that after a 7-10 season, the team retained a coach with an outdated scheme and a general manager who can’t draft the right players.
ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky tweeted that of the 52 guys drafted by the Seahawks since 2016, only three made it to the Pro Bowl.
He added that Earl Thomas was their last first-rounder that turned out to be great.
The Truth Hurts For The Seahawks
Their division alone makes it difficult to generate optimism for Seattle.
Without a clear-cut leader on both sides of the ball, the Seahawks will crumble against the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, and reigning Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams.
It’s not good news that the NFC West will face the AFC West teams in 2022.
Therefore, it’s hard to see Seattle pulling off an upset against the Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, and Kansas City Chiefs.
Finally, the Seahawks and the Denver Broncos will meet next season.
Expect Wilson to torch his former team because he has the targets to do so.
