The Seattle Seahawks have just cut safety Jamal Adams, cornerback Quandre Diggs, and tight end Will Dissly as they prepare for the start of the new NFL year and the official opening of free agency.
Normally, when a team cuts a player, that means he’s on his way to either signing with another squad or possibly retiring, but that may not be the case for the aforementioned players.
GM John Schneider said Seattle hasn’t “shut the door on any of them to come back” to the team, per Bob Condotta.
Seahawks GM John Schneider says on @SeattleSports that "we haven’t shut the door on any of them to come back'' referring to the cuts this week of Jamal Adams, Quandre Diggs and Will Dissly. Says moves were made because "it was more about what free agency looks like.''

Adams played four seasons for the Seahawks, and he made the Pro Bowl three straight times from 2018 to 2020, as well as the All-Pro First-Team in 2020, his first season with the Seahawks.
In 2023, he had 48 tackles (34 solo) and seven tackles for loss in nine games.
Diggs was named to the Pro Bowl from 2020 to 2022, and in 2023 he had 95 tackles (63 solo), five passes defended, and one interception.
A new era of sorts has begun in Seattle, as the team parted ways with longtime head coach Pete Carroll and hired Mike Macdonald to replace him, and they also have a new defensive coordinator in Aden Durde.
While Seattle finished 9-8 for the second season in a row in 2023, they missed the playoffs, and the NFC could get deeper and more competitive in 2024.
The Los Angeles Rams are rising from the ashes, as are the Green Bay Packers, and the Minnesota Vikings could become competitive again if they have a high-quality quarterback and are healthy.
