After more than a decade with the Seattle Seahawks and a one-year stint with the Los Angeles Rams, future Hall of Fame linebacker Bobby Wagner is again on the move, as he has agreed to sign a one-year deal to reunite with Dan Quinn on the Washington Commanders.
Although this is a step in the right direction for the rebuilding Commanders as they bring in a proven veteran and a born leader in Wagner to help right the ship, it is a bit of a head-scratcher that the Seahawks didn’t decide to keep him with the team still considered to be a playoff contender in the NFC.
Even though Wagner isn’t getting any younger—he will turn 34 in three months—he is still a highly productive player and arguably one of the greatest players the Seahawks have ever had on the defensive side of the football, with 10 All-Pro selections to his credit.
With the Seahawks passing on re-signing Wagner, former Seahawks star Richard Sherman has come out publicly via The Volume to bash his old team for its lack of loyalty.
“There isn’t loyalty, and it doesn’t exist for players, and players don’t owe it to these organizations,” Sherman said.

Even though it probably wasn’t a wise decision to let one of the best players in franchise history walk out of the door and sign with another team for the second time, the fact of the matter is that the NFL is a business, and these kinds of things happen every year, and Sherman knows this all too well.
Once it is all said and done for Wagner, he will almost certainly retire as a Seahawk while being enshrined in their Ring of Honor and will go into the Hall of Fame the same way.
