Former San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick is making headlines again.
He is training to return to the NFL and wants a team to play for in 2022.
While Kaepernick hasn’t played since 2016, that hasn’t stopped him from a desire to play again.
He has accused NFL teams of blacklisting him since his protest against the national anthem.
However, that might not be the case when you look at his past stats.
In his last two seasons with the 49ers, Kaepernick was 3-16 with 3,856 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
His play could be the real reason behind teams overlooking him.
However, he would be a good backup compared to other backup quarterback options on the market.
But that’s not what he wants.
He wants a starting job in the NFL one more time.
The best team to give him that starting job is the Seattle Seahawks.
What Makes The Seahawks The Best NFL Team For Kaepernick?
There are quite a few reasons Seattle would be the best landing spot for the controversial quarterback.
One of the obvious ones is that he will get to face his old team twice a year.
Getting revenge on the team that let him go would motivate Kaepernick to play some of the best football in his life.
Rivalry and revenge games bring out the best in players.
He can use that energy to show not only the 49ers, but the NFL fans why they were wrong to look him over.
Another reason is that he is familiar with the teams in the NFC West.
While it might have been six years since he last played against those teams, he still has a knowledge of what those teams do in games.
He could use that knowledge to beat those teams, helping the Seahawks along the way.
Kaepernick Has Reached Out To The Seahawks
It also looks like Kaepernick wants to go to Seattle.
He has a desire to be the starting quarterback there and reached out to the team.
Head coach Pete Carroll also has good things to say about the 49ers former starter.
While we don’t know exactly why the talks with Seattle and Kaepernick are stalled, we know Carroll isn’t the only one in Seattle high on him.
Seahawks receiver Tyler Lockett worked out with Kaepernick while he makes his case for a return to the NFL.
After throwing to Tyler Lockett last week, Colin Kaepernick says he's throwing to another Seahawks WR, former UW Husky Aaron Fuller. https://t.co/6F52jrXpOn

With the two gaining chemistry on the field in workouts, it would be great for them to put it together in a game.
Can The Seahawks Get A Deal Done With Kaepernick?
With Lockett and Carroll on the side of Kaepernick, one would think he’d be a shoo-in for a signing.
However, that currently isn’t the case for him with the team.
The problem might be caused by Kaepernick, who wants a big contract deal.
Based on his last two seasons in the NFL, Seattle might not be willing to do that.
What Seattle should do is offer him an incentive contract.
If Kaep wants to play he’ll signal his willingness to accept a “prove it” contract, which up to now he hasn’t been willing to do. Saying he’ll only play for big money is saying he really doesn’t want to play.

If they do, Kaepernick could put everything to rest with his doubters.
