Days ago, the Tennessee Titans fired Matt Vrabel as head coach after they finished a disappointing 6-11 in the regular season.
Vrabel is now one of the more attractive coaching candidates on the market, along with Jim Harbaugh and former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.
As for who could become the Titans’ next head coach, Bobby Slowik, the Houston Texans’ offensive coordinator, is the leader in the odds per Jaime Eisner.
New odds to be the Titans’ next HC:
Bobby Slowik (+100)
Dan Quinn (+275)
Antonio Pierce (+600)
Bill Belichick (+800)
Ben Johnson (+900)
Mike Kafka (10/1)
Lincoln Riley (14/1)
Brian Callahan (14/1)
Mike Macdonald (14/1)
Aaron Glenn (16/1)
Jim Harbaugh (25/1)
Eric Bieniemy (25/1)… https://t.co/KK34G3A8Sf— Jaime Eisner (@JaimeEisner) January 15, 2024
Slowik has done an excellent job guiding a Texans team that was projected to lose the majority of its games to a 10-7 record and a first-place finish in the AFC South.
On Saturday, they routed the Cleveland Browns, 45-14, as rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud continued his dazzling year with 274 passing yards and three passing touchdowns.
He has previously spent six seasons as an assistant coach with the San Francisco 49ers and three years before that with Washington under head coaches Kyle Shanahan and Mike Shanahan, respectively.
The Titans have one of the NFL’s best running backs in Derrick Henry and a very capable veteran wide receiver in DeAndre Hopkins, but they have a question mark at quarterback.
They tried three different men at the position this season, including rookie Will Levis, who threw for 1,808 yards and eight touchdowns but completed only 58.4 percent of his pass attempts in nine starts.
They also have 35-year-old Ryan Tannehill, who clearly isn’t the Pro Bowl-caliber signal-caller he was a few years ago and played in just 10 games this season.
He suffered an ankle injury in Week 6, and in Week 10, Vrabel decided to bench him in favor of Levis.
