The Kansas City Chiefs hoped that L’Jarius Sneed would stay.
However, they were either unable or unwilling to sign him to the big-money contract he was looking for — and deserving of.
The multi-time Super Bowl champion wound up leaving to join the Tennessee Titans, who traded multiple draft picks for him before giving him the multi-year, lucrative contract he wanted.
Now, a report by Dianna Russini of The Athletic reveals that the Minnesota Vikings, Indianapolis Colts, and New England Patriots were also keeping tabs on him, but to no avail.
Teams that poked around over the last few weeks on Sneed included the Vikings, Patriots, and Colts. The Titans stayed in contact with the Chiefs and found ways to get it done, including the new contract that is expected.

The Chiefs are looking to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls, and losing one key contributor obviously doesn’t do much to help their case.
Then again, they won a Super Bowl when most people thought they were in their worst season, so it’s not like they haven’t been able to reinvent themselves and find different ways to get the job done.
On the flip side, the Titans are entering a new era, and they’ve made a big splash in the offseason.
Signing Calvin Ridley to a multi-year deal was a big step in the right direction, and Brian Callahan hopes he can bring the best out of Tony Pollard.
The Titans already had a stout defense during the Mike Vrabel era, and adding a prime cornerback like Sneed will only help their secondary defense even more.
Clearly, they believe they can compete right away with Will Levis behind center, and it’ll be interesting to see how they fare in a tough AFC South Division next season.
