The Seattle Seahawks needed someone to take over for Pete Carroll, and it’s never easy to move on from a future Hall of Fame coach.
Carroll had been in charge of the team for the past 14 years, developing and establishing a culture and identity on and off the field for the organization.
With that in mind, NFL legend Michael Irvin believes the team did a solid job of replacing him with Mike Macdonald.
Talking on Undisputed, the Dallas Cowboys legend did hold him accountable for not making any adjustment to prevent Travis Kelce from going 11-for-11 in the most crucial game of the season.
“This is a great hire for Seattle,” Irvin said.

Then again, he also talked about how this signing was right on brand with the Seahawks’ identity, as they won their last Super Bowl thanks to their defense, and this guy sure knows a thing or two about defense.
Needless to say, there will always be some concerns regarding defensive-minded head coaches and the offense, and this is the exception to that rule.
Irvin claimed it’s going to be interesting to see what he’s able to do with the other side of the field, especially considering the fact that Geno Smith still has two years left in his contract.
The Seahawks were supposed to be in a rebuild mode last season, but they proved to be far ahead of schedule after the Russell Wilson trade.
So, even though they might still not be ready to keep up with the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West, this team could be very good for years to come.
