Smith Getting The Job Done
Smith is the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week for Week 4 after leading Seattle to victory against the Detroit Lions.
The Seahawks stayed with the league’s number one offense and outscored them in a shootout, 48-45.
The second-round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft finished with 23 completions out of 30 attempts for 320 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions.
One of his touchdown passes went to Will Dissly, which started the scoring for both teams.
He also had a two-yard touchdown strike to Noah Fant, one of the players Seattle got from the trade that sent Wilson to the Broncos.
Smith’s accuracy also helped D.K. Metcalf collect 149 yards from seven receptions.
Meanwhile, Tyler Lockett finished with six catches for 91 yards.
Smith also established the Seahawks’ running game, enabling Rashaad Penny to have 17 carries for 151 yards and two touchdowns.
The victory over Detroit is Seattle’s second win out of four games.
Smith also has the highest completion rate among quarterbacks, with at least 125 pass attempts at 77.3 percent.
His lowest clip through four games was 72.7 percent in their Week 3 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
In contrast, he completed 82.1 percent of his throws in their season opener opposite the Broncos.
The Seahawks can try to gain a winning record by defeating the New Orleans Saints in Week 5.
Meanwhile, Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Haason Reddick is the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week.
Minnesota Vikings kicker Greg Joseph is the conference’s Special Teams Player of the Week.
