The trade deadline can bring a lot of stress and nerves for a player.
Said player may see his name brought up in trade discussions and rumors and not know what’s next for him.
All he can do is wait to see if he’ll stay put or end up with a different team.
One of the most sought-after names on the market, catcher Willson Contreras, finally got his answer yesterday.
Contreras is staying with the Chicago Cubs, at least for now.
Last night, after the deadline had passed, Contreras ran out onto the field at Busch Stadium and pumped his fist as he acknowledged all of the Cubs fans in attendance.

Contreras Stays Put
Contreras did say that he wanted all of this to be over.
Now, it finally is, and Contreras knows where he’ll be for the rest of the year.
He’ll remain in Chicago as a key member of this Cubs ballclub.
Contreras, along with Kyle Hendricks and Jason Heyward, is one of the last holdovers from the Cubs 2016 championship run.
For now, he’ll stay in Wrigleyville.
But seeing him pump his fist in the air as he acknowledged the Cubs fans in attendance at Busch is great for all baseball fans.
For a minute, he didn’t know if he was ever going to play another game with the only organization he’s ever known his entire career.
Now, he’ll have at least two more months with the Cubbies, which gives them a little time to decide if they want to extend him long term before he hits the market.
Contreras is a fan favorite in Chicago, and he’ll stay with the team for at least the final two months of the 2022 regular season.
