The Chicago Cubs made a considerable investment to bring in Craig Counsell as their new manager.
They already had a solid skipper under contract in David Ross, but they thought Counsell could really make a difference and brought him to Chicago.
Now that he has had some time to get his feet wet with the franchise and his new players, Counsell talked with the folks at MLB Network about his time in front of the clubhouse, developing relationships, and other things related to his job.
“I’m having a lot of fun… getting to know a lot of new people and starting to form some great relationships,” he said, per MLB Network.

Managing at the MLB level requires very specific skills.
Among them, we can name knowledge of the game, experience in MLB clubhouses, creativity, and anticipating your opponent’s move.
However, the most important of all skills is earning the trust of your coaches and players.
When he was the manager of the Milwaukee Brewers from 2015 until 2023, Counsell was always a master of communicating with his players and getting the best of them.
People skills can get you far in baseball, and in managing.
With the Cubs, Counsell will have more resources at hand and talented stars such as Cody Bellinger, Justin Steele, Dansby Swanson, Christopher Morel, Shota Imanaga, and many more.
He is in a prime spot to not just make the postseason, but also get his team to the last rounds.
